Fondazione Biohabitat

“AquaSymphony. Discover the Sound of Water” is a project by Davide Vercelli and Fondazione Biohabitat together with Latifolia, Fima Carlo Frattini, Battiloro Handpan, and Serralunga.

The immersive installation recreates the magical sounds of rainforests, explores a new dimension of water, and raises public awareness of the importance of biodiversity, promoting the culture of greenery—long the Foundation’s mission—even within urban contexts. It presents a showcase of rare and unusual tropical plants for our latitudes, where design elements are immersed in a soundscape: flowing water resonates through a lush forest of strelitzias, banana trees, and yucca.

Design meets nature along a path that converges around two wet areas: two specially modified Soffioni Melograno showerheads release a steady rainfall onto two handpans, generating a hypnotic carpet of sound.

Along the route, masterpieces by Zaha Hadid, Philippe Starck, Jean-Marie Massaud, Rodolfo Dordoni, and other designers are displayed, created using second-life materials. Through a rotational molding process, Fondazione Biohabitat produces polyethylene (LLDPE) objects resistant to thermal shock (from -35 °C to +80 °C), weather conditions, impacts, and UV rays. At the end of their life cycle, these objects are transformed into plastic powder to generate new products, according to the principle of a virtuous circular economy.
